JACKSONVILLE, FL. – More than 7,000 pets are looking for a home this holiday season and you could give some of them the gift of warmth and stability!
The national non-profit Petco Love works with the Jacksonville Humane Society and Animal Care & Protective Services to help animals find their forever-fur homes.
Adoption fees, which can often be a deterrent to would-be adopters, are being waived on Saturday and Sunday as part of the Mega Merry Adoption Weekend.
“There are so many wonderful pets at our partner animal shelters and rescues waiting to be adopted into a loving home,” said Petco Love President Susanne Kogut.
Petco Love is holding the event throughout Florida, Georgia and Texas, with 96 Petco pet care centers and 76 shelters participating. Those in the Duval County area are encouraged to visit JHS or ACPS this weekend, as well as Petco Marsh Landing, to visit with adoptable cats and dogs.
“We are thrilled to join Petco Love in this Mega Merry Adoption Weekend,” said Denise Deisler, CEO of JHS. “Thanks to Petco Love’s continued generosity, shelter animals at JHS receive the compassionate care they deserve while they await their new, loving homes.”
The Jacksonville Humane Society will be open for adoptions all weekend from 10am-5pm.
Petco Marsh Landing is open for adoptions from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. both days.
Animal Care and Protective Services is also open all weekend, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m
All pets are spayed, microchipped and vaccinated prior to adoption. Additional fees may apply, such as the city’s rabies permit fee, leash and collar, or cat transport service. For more informationvisit jaxhumane.org.
