LEICESTERSHIR, ENGLAND and KIDWELLY, WALES — On December 7, Assisi Pet Care Group Limited announced the acquisition of Kidwelly-based Burns Pet Nutrition. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Burns Pet Nutrition was founded in 1993 by John Burns, a veterinarian, who aimed to solve common pet health problems through nutrition. Today, Burns Pet Nutrition is known for its high quality, natural dry and wet dog foods, as well as its recently introduced cat food range.
“After 30 years of owning and growing Burns Pet Nutrition, I feel it is time to retire and hand over the reins,” said Burns. “It has been a joyous and, at times, difficult journey. I have had great support from many people and organizations over the years and I would like to express my thanks to all of them.
“I am delighted that Assisi Pet Care is a good fit for Burns and they will grow the Burns brand in a responsible, ethical way,” he added.
Founded in 2020, Assisi Pet Care operates as a platform to acquire, integrate and help grow leading pet foods and brands across the European Union. Since its foundation, the group has acquired Maced Sp.ZooPolish producer of dog treats, and Pet Munchies Holdingsa leading manufacturer of natural pet treats, as well as Holling and Hi-Life.
According to Assisi Pet Care, the acquisition will expand its growth across the European Union. It is also the group’s first transaction since then which was acquired by Wind Point Partnersa Chicago-based private equity firm.
